1. Composition of Gloves
Not all materials can equally effectively cope with protection in a given situation. What works well during the procedure is not always suitable for instrument manipulation. Choose gloves based on the specifics of the job and your intended actions.
Remember, there are no universal solutions!
Many unscrupulous sellers often manipulate the term “anatomical shape” in the context of any kind of gloves. This statement is far from reality, since this option is technically necessary only in specialized surgical gloves.
Treatment gloves are flat and are equally suitable for both left and right hands. Most modern materials used in this category of gloves provide a sufficient level of fit and elasticity so that the issue of anatomy and comfort is not a concern for the consumer.
It is much more important to choose the right size.
3. Cuff and glove length
The length of the glove and cuff is one of the main indicators that directly affects the functionality. Protection of the lower area of the forearm and fold is especially relevant when applying large-scale tattoos and carrying out the first stage of disinfection of a reusable instrument .
According to Russian standards, the length of diagnostic gloves should be from 240 mm to 300 mm; for surgical and specialized gloves, this figure is much higher.
4. Tactile sensitivity
This is an extremely important parameter in tattooing and permanent tattooing. Most industry professionals are forced to perform fairly subtle manipulations with equipment and skin, so the tactile perception of the process is almost in the foreground.
In addition to thin specialized Blue nitrile gloves designed for the needs of neurosurgery and ophthalmologists, diagnostic products made of nitrile and vinyl have high sensitivity. At the same time, it is worth remembering their low mechanical strength, which undoubtedly affects the scope of their application.
5. AQL – quality level
Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) – the percentage of acceptable defects in the mass production of medical gloves. It is very difficult for the manufacturer to control the quality of each product, so only some of the gloves that come off the conveyor are rejected.
Physical indicators for durability and microbiological control are put as priority tests. If testing gives negative results, the entire batch is sent for disposal.
According to the European AQL specification, the following quality indicators are present:
1 – very high
1.5 – high
2.5 – admissible
3 – invalid.
Accordingly, the lower the AQL parameter, the less marriage in the batch.
6. Presence of powder
Currently, a number of manufacturers still offer powdered latex gloves due to their low price and, as a result, high demand. The low cost of such products is due to the absence of the need for additional acid treatment of the inside of the gloves (to get rid of the sticky layer of latex).
Undoubtedly, gloves treated in this way are extremely easy to put on even on wet hands, but this is where all the advantages of these products end.
By itself, the powder is harmless, but it can absorb allergens on itself, enter into an active relationship with the “glove juice” and, due to the crystalline structure, damage the skin of the hands. As a result, the epidermis loses its ability to regenerate, damage is formed that is a direct transit for the penetration of infections and allergens.
7. Relief and texture
This is an important factor that directly affects the manipulation of the master with the tool. As a rule, the texture is present in the area of the fingers and provides a comfortable grip on instruments insulated with a barrier protection. Gloves with a pronounced texture are much more comfortable to work in conditions of sliding vaseline.
A textured pattern or relief is applied to the outer surface of the fingers or palm. The texture provides a secure grip on instruments, which is especially important when working with medical gloves.
The textured surface of the glove in one area or another can adversely affect tactile sensitivity.
No matter what they say, size matters!
Incorrectly selected products can create discomfort and put the master and client at risk of infection. Gloves should fit comfortably and tightly around the hands, without creating air pockets and excessive pressure on the folds and joints.
Choosing the right size is very easy – manufacturers indicate the size grid on the packaging of gloves, by which you can easily determine the required size.
